OMG, they were a hardy lot, weren't they? I just appreciate the fact that
Amelia Torkington/Talkington/Fortington/Tollington, age 17, was one of the ten
worst behaved girls on the ship so she was named in the Surgeon's report as
coming from St Giles Workhouse. I had someone check the St Giles records but
there was nothing about her being admitted only that she left for "Australia,
own accord". I bet they were glad to get rid of her!!! On her marriage
certificate to convict Thomas Chinnery, her father's name is supposedly John
but I have never found either him or her on any census.
