Here it states child not Edward's that mother had abandoned it and Edward had
adopted it and it had been registered in his name.

That 170 Aberdeen address seems to be some sort of boarding house, (I ran that

Hope this helps,

Subject: [dps-chat] Soutar Forsyth family etc
Hi All.
I am the Secretary of Clan Forsyth WA and am interested in all things family
tree wise for that name And its different spellings in WA and Victoria where my
Forsyth ancestors transited to WA. So over the years when going through church
records I came across Elsie May below
Elsie May Forsyth was baptised on 03 Aug 1919 at St Georges C/E at Carnarvon
and born on 06 July 1913 To Andrew Soutar Forsyth and Evelyn Adelaide Unknown.
Andrew had never married this Evelyn Adelaide And I have been trying to find
her and the daughter ever since but think now she was not Andrew’s daughter at
all.
Andrew was a bit of a lad. He married a woman during WW1 in England, but shot
through and left her there.
She followed him to Australia after the War and eventually they lived as man &
wife and had 3 kids but Later on separated. Andrew was chased by the Army after
the war for his wife in England/Scotland and there are letters etc On his Army
file re this. I have tried numerous methods to track down the 2 ladies without
much success.
But the other night I interrogated Ancestry with just the first names and date
of birth of daughter and a family Came up but the year of birth was 1912 but
the 06 July was the same for daughter of Edward William Bing and wife Evelyne
Adelaide Zech who married in Perth in 1910 and a check on Trove showed that
they had split up and Edward was A bit remiss in paying maintenance. It also
elucidated that the daughter Elsie was adopted by him. Her birth reg is Elsie M
Bing #1247/1912. Because she was “adopted” I assumed her “original” birth may
also be still registered And found that the was an Elsie M Telford birth reg
#1247/1912 so now assume that Elsie was originally a Telford And kept her first
names and adopted the surname of her adopted father/mother- married name. Must
also have Been adopted by the mother.
When Elsie died in 15 Nov 1977 age 65 her parents are listed on the index as
Edward and Adelaide. So assume She never married and died unmarried. Now when I
looked at the electoral rolls for Adelaide Bing as she called herself When
married she moves out of the house with Edward Bing and to 170 Aberdeen Street.
Guess who also occupies That address at the same time, none other than Andrew
Soutar Forsyth so she must have shacked up with him after Leaving Edward Bing.
Why they were in Carnarvon after the war I don’t know. Maybe Andrew was trying
to hide from His wife. Anyway I thought the wrong year of birth but correct
date with the correct names etc for mother and child Was too much to be a
coincidence and because the mother ends up at same address as Andrew must be an
error In the baptism record or I copied it wrong. Have checked the Electoral
Rolls and found Elsie May Bing seems to have lived her whole life with the
Salvation Army. She is listed at Old Folks home in 15 Harvest Terrace Nth Freo
in 1936 and 37, then in a SA home in Bassendean in 1943, then back at 15
Harvest Terrace 1949 to 1968 then 1972 and 1977 in Unit 348 at Williams Road
Nedlands which is a SA Retirement Village.
Have looked at Zeck/Zeck and Czech/Czeck to find Adeaide but to no avail.
Wondered if Zech may have been first hubbie’s name And Edward was second hubbie.
Malcolm Sears
So does anyone have any Zech/Zeck in their tree or a Telford that may have had
an illegitimate birth in 1912 or anything Else that may solve what happened to
Evelyn “ Adelaide”.
