Thanks to Gillian giving me the mother's name Jane, I am like a dog chasing its
tail at the moment.
I am hoping against hope that I have found Amelia!! Father's name is
transcribed as Joshua not John but that could be a mistranscription?? I got
"John" from Amelia's marriage certificate and that could be incorrect as well.
There is no record of any other Joshua Talkington being born, married or buried.

Joshua Talkington M 35-39
Jane Talkington F 25-29
Joshua Talkington M 11 Middlesex
Edwin Talkington M 6 Middlesex
Walter Talkington M 4 Middlesex
Amelia Talkington F 2 Middlesex
Note that while the children were all born in Middlesex, the parents have no
birthplace listed.
I searched for Amelia Talkington/Torkington in 1851 and found Walter (18 yr old
plasterer), Edwin (14 yr old plasterer) and their sister Emily (not Amelia),
age 10 all boarding with two middle-aged Masson sisters in Castle Place,
Shoreditch, Middlesex. No parents. I found deaths for a John and a Jane
Talkington in 1842 but whether it's the same family or not, I have no idea. The
boys were born in Middlesex but Emily was born in Surrey. Emily's age of 10 in
1851 coincides with her age when she sailed on "Emma Eugenia" in 1858 age
seventeen. Obviously the boy's ages have been switched either in 1841 or 1851.
I'll need to check that but it's Amelia who is my mystery girl.
Anyway, just sharing what I've been wasting precious time on when the sun is
shining outside and it's a beautiful day...
Vivienne
