The problem using simple div containers with html is, that I don't know how to 
use the blog plugin
within them... :)

I'm not familiar with the blog plugin, so this may not be useful. But one suggestion for using HTML is as follows: 
       <html><div class='floating_container'></html>
        dokuwiki and blog markup
       <html></div></html>
This would place all of your blog and wiki code inside a floating container. But if the blog plugin uses floats, there might be conflicts. I don't know, but it's worth a try.
