[dokuwiki] search stopped working

The "Search" function on my dokuwiki does seem to be working. I just
created my second wiki, so I prolly have something configured wrong. The
Search always says "Nothing was found". I had created a test wiki on
another computer, and the Search worked on that one. I'm using an
out-of-the-box configuration. I have a couple of pagespaces, and was trying
to find some pages I had just post in. I'm searching for exact text
strings, and it still cannot find them.
Any suggestions? (sorry I'm very new to dokuwiki!)
