[dokuwiki] Swiftmail plug-in

I'm trying to use the Swiftmail plug-in, so far with no success. I need it
because I'm running on Windows Vista Home Premium, which doesn't have a mail
server built in.

 

At the risk of sounding like a moron, does this automagically replace calls
to the PHP mail function?

 

Where is the error log mentioned in the configuration?
