No there isn't any template. I just used a smiley as starting point,
removed the face and stretched the thing.

I've built some text smiley's for my own use in Fireworks. I separated
out two layers for the background & spanner icor (based on one of
FIXME/DELETEME smileys) and I add a text layer for whatever letters I
need and alter the background color by modifying the hue/saturation.
I've attached two examples.
