Your idea is interesting :-). Syntax + action should do the trick.
You can look at
https://www.dokuwiki.org/plugin:todo and see how it makes
the checkbox clickable and changes the wiki text (using AJAX, but the
theory is similar if you want to use the traditional form instead).
I believe others can give you a more similar plugin to look at.
