You can replace the page template mechanism with your own (action
plugin):

Anybody interessted in that ?
It's really a hack, because i simply copy-paste the original
pageTemplate function from common.php
into my action plugin and used $event->preventDefault(); to prevent
execution of default action for HTML_PAGE_FROMTEMPLATE.
Maybe someone (who's name matches /^Andy$/) should transfere the name
into some local.php config :-)
