Eric, Sorry I wasn't more explicit. I propose that the INI file simply contains a comment plus data to be used in reconstructing the shortcut. The #0'LNK' signature would be stored in the central directory/ file header records as extra data. I doubt that anyone else uses a signature system like this that begins with a null therefore this should be highly compatible with existing products. James Turner PS Using 'LNK' as the signature leaves the door open for other functions along the same lines. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Eric.Engler@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <delphizip@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, September 10, 2002 11:18 PM Subject: [delphizip] Re: Re shortcuts in zip files > > I'm not sure if I understand, do you mean to store the 4 bytes > and shortcut link in the INI file? > > Eric > > -----Original Message----- > From: James Turner [mailto:james.d.h.turner@xxxxxxxxxxxx] > Sent: Tuesday, September 10, 2002 5:37 PM > To: delphizip@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: [delphizip] Re shortcuts in zip files > > > > Eric, > > Like me you are a hard man to please so how about this. > > Store 4 bytes of extra data being the ascii codes for 'LNK' preceeded by a > null. > > Store the shortcut data as text as described before.
