As for how to use an equalizer, honestly, the web is full of articles, most books on mixing or recording will have at least a whole chapter devoted to EQ.
I trained my ears using a set of CD's called Golden Ears, produced by Dave Moulton.

Hi, I would like to learn how to use the cakewalk EQ better in sonar. In the manual it says to view the online help but it does not give me a link or anything. I thought there was a shortcut when your in the effect windows to bring up its help document. Maybe that was in a earlier version of Sonar? Any help? Thanks PLEASE READ THIS FOOTER AT LEAST ONCE!
