hello listers,

I would appreciate any insights into the problem that I'm having -- as described below.

first of all, I'm using sonar5.2 with ct5.2

The Problem: I have a midi sequence in 4/4 time with a ppq of 960 ticks. The sequence is a guitar strumming on beats 2 & 4 of each bar. The strums have durations of 1440 ticks, or 1 and a half quarter notes. So, the strum on beat 2 will "note on" at beat 2 and "note off" at beat 3.480--actually at 3.479 but that's not important here. Similarly, the strum on beat 4 will, theoretically at least, "note on" at beat 4 and "note off" at beat 1.480 of the next bar. Right? Wrong! The strum at beat 2 rings for its full duration, but the strum at beat 4 is clipped at the bar line. That is, it goes "note off" at the bar line and doesn't ring for the last 480 ticks of its 1.480 duration as did its counterpart on beat 2.

The sequence is routed through sonar's included VirtualSoundCanvas softSynth, although, I don't think thats a factor here. When examining the sequence in the event list view, everything looks fine-durations are all set at 1.480 beats. And, there are no overlapping notes that might cause a premature "note off". So I cannot understand why these notes are clipped at the bar line. Is there some sonar setting I need to change or something?

Any helpful suggestions greatly appreciated.
