Subject: [ddots-l] Re: help in installing CakeTalking for Sonar.

Hi everyone,

I indicated that I was having problem installing CakeTalking for Sonar to
use with JAWS 11. I tried it again today and received the following message
on the screen. It says:

\AAALayout.cakewalkwindowLayout could not be opened. Please check that your
disk is not full and that you have access the destination directory. Access
is denied.

To correct the problem, I looked at the manual in reference to sonar and it
stated that Sonar should run for the first time before installing the
CakeTalking JAWS scripts.
I ran that program and it copied some files and did some personal
customization to the machine. I'm not sure what it did.
I then reran the installing program for CakeTalking for Sonar and it went
through the entire installation without giving me the error message that I
was receiving. Since this is a new installation and not a previous
installation as another user experienced, I wanted to let everyone know that
I ran Sonar again and the scripts worked as it should.
Now it's time for me to read the manual to configure windows and changing my
laptop to desktop layout. I have purchased an external USB full size
keyboard for this purpose as well as typing in Grade 2 Braille with Duxbury.
Does anyone know whether this manual lets me know when I can plug my
keyboard and external sound card to see if it works? I have already
installed these drivers for both keyboard and sound card. I purchased the
m-audio 88 E.S. keystation keyboard and the m-audio fasttrack external USB
sound card.
Currently both of these are going to be attached to my netbook.
If this does not work, then I'll have to install everything on the desktop
but that would be a last resort unless I purchase a high end laptop for this
particular purpose in working with sound files.
I hope this may help someone else in this area.
If anyone have suggestions on what I should do next, let me know.
I have already registered Sonar and received my code and it is completed.
Talk to everyone soon.

Sincerely,

    Lisa,

I had similar problems installing it last week. Then a lightbulb came on
somewhere and I realized that I had been all to quick to push a button and
installed an earlier version of cake talking which didn't run well with my
version of sonar either. I upgraded it to the later version and all seems
well. Now if I could figure out how to get my keyboard to communicate with
the fast track I just purchased. Baby steps for now I suppose. Hope this
helps.
