MessageWell, that's not quite true! Both the PCI 324 and 424 do work at 24 bits! I think even on my 3200 hz single processor machine it is the cause of some instability. Phil replied: It's very unlikely that the MOTU would be the cause of stability issues. I used to run an AMD Athlon XP 1.6Ghz system with 512MB of SDRAM and never experienced any stability issues with the PCI 324 at all. I ran a MOTU PCI 324 system for 7 years. In fact, I would say that it was having that hardware that allowed me to run 30 to 40 tracks of audio, with a ton of plug-ins and 2 instances of DR-008 running DFH. I only upgraded the system because the PC got hit by a lightning strike and even then, the MOTU still worked solidly in my new core duo system. If you getting some stability issues then, it could be time for you to do an OS reinstall. I don't have the MOTU now, as I have changed over to an FW1884 with an Octoper Platinum Pro. My MOTU has gone to a good home though. Tim burgess has it in his studio. I had the same issue when I bought it. The ASUS board will accept the old 324 card wher the Intel board wil not. This is well documentation on the MOTU site. And, in my opinion, with a core 2 machine one should take advantage of the PCI Express card anyway. It really rocks. I've had one for one year and it has never failed. You have a PCI324 card in stead of a 424 card? What's failing? It should work. Can you not get drivers? Have you spoken to MOTU Tech Support? They're a bitch to get a hold of but helpful once you do. Did the card used to work in your old PC? Wich card is the most stable with sonar and caketalking and also of a professional quality. Thanks
