Hey, this Sun thing is quite nice, shame we don't have more of it in
England.

Phil replied: agreed. Just been enjoying some of that down here in Dorset.
Off to load up the car for a gig in a minute or two.

Would that sound card get rid of my Latency problem I'm getting on vocal
tracks.

Phil replied: it certainly would because you can use hardware monitoring
with this device. That would result in 0 latency because your not using the
PC to listen to your microphones at all. Also, it's control panel is fully
accessible, thanks to an excellent HSC set that Tim Burgess has put
together. Finally, if you have any MIDI devices attached to this sound card
then, you can use it's hardware monitoring without the PC turned on at all.
This allows you to be able to jam using your MIDI gear, with the PC turned
off.

Steve wrote: It's really off putting when you hear your voice coming back at
you through the headphones slightly delayed.
I'm using the Fast Track Pro and have tried several different drivers at 0
latency, still hearing a short delay on my voice.

Phil replied: the Focusright drivers are really well written too so, you
will be able to achieve low latency when recording using softsynthes.

Steve wrote: Regarding old technology, my 1.3 gigabyte Fostex 8 track
recorder that came out of a cave man's studio never had latency problems?

Phil replied: that's because the whole thing is hardware driven.

Steve wrote: Didn't know what latency was until I got my computer although,
to be fare, I love my computer when it works.

Phil replied: yup, and like the rest of us, you couldn't live without your
PC.

It's really off putting when you hear your voice coming back at you through

Didn't know what latency was until I got my computer although, to be fare, I
love my computer when it works.
