Hi Neville,Well - I haven't forgotten about you and the quirk with the Tranzport; so here's what I've been able to come up with thus far. I hope I'm not premature in writing this message, but anything's better than nothing.
during my travels, I've been reading about things like freezing tracks and soft synths to help lessen the load on sonar; so I decided to give it a try. Where I've been experiencing the crashes is when I'm working on big projects - and they don't necessarily have a lot of tracks in them. The church service projects, for example, have over a gig of audio that must be edited down to fit on a CD. I found that when I freeze the track before I begin the process of marking the places for editing, it seems to clear up the problem of crashing the system. I do a lot of scrubbing to get the edit points exactly where I want them, and that's where I ran into this situation. Once I've got things marked, I unfreeze the track and do my edits. I didn't experience it when working with smaller projects, except every now and then when I was running earlier versions of the Tranzport software and Sonar version 8.3. Of course, it always helps to have a lot of ram onboard; I've got three gigs on my machine right now.
I just did this past Sunday's service today, and I didn't have any crashes. Hopefully freezing the track did the trick - but everybody's system is different.
Let me know how you make out. Have a good one. Mike----- Original Message ----- From: "neville" <neville@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Well if you come up with a solution before I do, please let me know about it. May the peace of God which passes all understanding gard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. God bless you! There's just too much invested in it to do that. I REALLY DO! In order to keep things brief (in particular when others are working O.K.) what I did not say is that what may appear to be rather an extreme measure can also often point to a weird local problem. For example, I had a situation recently with software which cost me around $2,000. Nobody could figure out why compilation failed. PROCMON (Process Monitor) revealed that the process failed at a point where it was necessary to determine what language I was using. And cutting a long story short, it did not like me using a system set up for BRITISH English. Thankfully I was able to work around that one in the short term, especially as I was developing for an American company. So don't give up. George. PLEASE READ THIS FOOTER AT LEAST ONCE!
