Well, I would talk to Jim Roseberry over at: http://www.studiocat.com/He is definitely the guy to build your Pc for you. Jim has a lot of experience with putting systems together and is also familiar with the Tascam FW-1884. If it were me then, I would get the FW-1884 going with your desktop system and perhaps, look at getting a separate audio/MIDI interface for your laptop. Jim may be able to help you source some of the other things on this list too.
If you still need an audio/MIDI interface then, perhaps the Lexicon IONIX U22 would be a good option.
