I imagine that will work. BTW, sonar 5 has a regular gain processing function similar to sound forge now.

Using the parametric EQ under the process/audio menu, is it possible to
cut DB? Instead of using 3DB louder and 3DB softer, I'd like to cut
DB by
1 or 2 by passing everything through a high or low pass filter, and
using
a negative value (-1 or -2) in the gain field. Will this work as I intend?
