Hello folks,
For about the last 3 weeks, I have been using Zello which is an application
almost like the old CB radios where you can talk back and forth to people. I
use it on my iPhone, but you can also install it on your pc and use it there
with some jaws scripts created by Doug Lee. You can get the scripts for free
from www.dlee.org. I believe that is the website. Anyway, you basically
create a user name, add channels, and you can talk back and forth to people
from all over the world. There have been channels created for apple products
such as the iPhone and mac and other blindness related issues relating to
accessibility. It's not just for the blind of course, anyone can use it, but
you get a lot of valuable info from just chatting with people about devices. I
have learned so much more about my iPhone from getting on hello. So anyway, I
created a channel for users of CakeTalking so that we could have another way to
chat about the use of CakeTalking if we have questions, or if we just want to
talk about different plugins etc. It's just another way I thought we could
have to get our questions answered and just thought it would be an awesome way
for CakeTalking users to chat with each other in teal time. The best thing
about Zello is it is in real time, so you are hearing things live as they are
being spoken. It's not like other walkie talkie apps where they record what
you say and then send it out to the server, it is live. If you have an iPhone,
iPod touch, iPad, etc, you just go to the app store and you type in zello and
you download the app. YOu create a user name, double tap on the add button,
type in CakeTalking in the search for a channel box and it should come up.
Like I said, they also have a pc application that you just download to your pc
and then you install the hello scripts for jaws created by Doug Lee and you are
good to go. Please join me in this channel and we can talk all things
CakeTalking or for that matter anything plugin or audio-related, but I really
it to be a place where other CakeTalking users can interact with each other in
real-time. Join me there! Thanks,
