It gives you either 8 stereo or 16 mono digital audio channels from the
Motif to Sonar. The channels show up in Sonar like additional sound card
ports. You assign MIDI tracks on the Motif to these channels the same way
that you'd send them to analog outputs on the Motif. You also can send 2
stereo or 4 mono channels from Sonar back to the Motif.
