Bring focus to JAWS 18 with INSERT+J
Choose Utilities from the menu bar
Choose "Sound Cards"
Arrow up or down the list and choose the sound card driver for the low-end
sound card you want JAWS always to use.
This setting should eliminate potential conflicts with higher-end sound
cards.

Hi, are you sure JAWS is actually shutting down, and not that it's just
losing sound?
I ask because if you are using magix low latency drivers, or if they
are installed on your system, it could be that the MAGIX software
drivers are stopping jaws speech and thus you cannot hear jaws or think its

JFW.exe listed in your programs list as running? If so, it could just
be the sound issue I described.
I've seen this problem with a client I was working with earlier this
year, and as far as I know, no real/accurate fix exists for it.
If jaws is in fact crashing, try using it without the scripts, does it
make a difference?

Subject: [ddots-l] JAWS 18 Shuts Down Completely When I Initially Run
SoundForge11Pro (Magix)
Hello!
I have installed SoundForge11Pro and the two accompanying programs
(Installation Options) that accompany it in the setup installation file
on my Windows 10 computer (running 64-bit version with 64-Gigs of RAM).
I did not install the SimpliClean program offered by SoundForge11Pro
during the setup process (leaving this option unchecked). I have
installed Snowman's JAWS Scripts for SoundForge11Pro, which installed
properly. When I click on SoundForge11Pro to run it, JAWS shuts down
and cannot be restarted until after I run Narrator to regain sound on
the computer; then I can restart JAWS with its shortcut combo of
Alt-CTRL+J; then I can close Narrator; and the program works properly
then. Can anyone explain to me why this occurs so I can fix this
problem and use SoundForge11Properly? Has anyone else experienced a
similar problem with SoundForge11Pro causing JAWS to shut down or with
anyother program doing this? Come to think of it, this also happened
with OtsAvRadio when I first installed it, but it eventually stopped
doing it, but I never discovered what caused the program to cause this
problem with JAWS. I am using the latest version of JAWS 18. I have
uninstalled and reinstalled SoundForge11Pro and all of its components,
which installed properly and run as it should when used, except for the
shutting down of JAWS18 initially when I run it. I wrote VFO-Group's
JAWS Support regarding this issue last Thursday (08/10/2017) but have
not yet received any response from them regarding this issue; they
acknowledge receiving my email regarding this issue but nother else;
therefore, I hope someone on this list can provide some way of fixing this
