Stephanie:
Make sure you are not in auto-punch mode.  If you are using cake talking, press 
shift R and select either the normal sound on sound or overwrite mode.  If you 
did go  into autopunch mode and then saved your project, that will be the mode 
when you open the project.

  I have a SONAR file that will not allow me to record anything past measure 
97.  I have nothing muted or armed, and I don't remember write-protecting the
