The ideal would be a soundcard that is small enough to fit into the laptop slot instead of a firewire or USB one. Phil replied: if your going to purchase a machine from Dell, make sure that it's one of there business machines. Also, I would personally go for a Lenovo machine over a Dell one. I know that Lenovo laptops aren't cheap however, they definitely are reliable. Also, stay away from centrino processors and go for a machine that has a core duo processor. As for the sound card recommendations, we already chatted about that. The MOTU USB2 range of cards look good. I have only sceen the MOTU 828 however, I would imagine that all of those cards would be excellent. Chris wrote: Also, am I right that we are still staying clear of Vista for sonar and jaws? Phil replied: if you want good performance an reliability then, go for XP home/Pro over Vista. I would still advise not going anywhere near Vista if you can. The project has a sfz session in it, but the file that I loaded in the session had a different pathname on the old computer. How can I change the file path in the session so that sfz finds that file on this new computer? Thanks. Omar Binno www.omarbinno.com
