I also made my first posting to the Montpelier Front Porch Forum. It read:
The Central Vermont Amateur Radio Club invites you to join them for the
American Radio Relay League 2017 Field Day. Every year on the fourth
weekend in June, Radio Amateurs (sometimes called "Hams") from all over
the world transport themselves and their radios off the Grid to simulate
emergency conditions. This year, the Central Vermont Amateur Radio Club
invites you to join them and see what the excitement is all about. We
will be setting up at the Barre Town Middle and Elementary School, Barre
Recreation Complex, 70 Websterville Road, Barre Vermont--signs will
point the way. Visitors are welcome from2 PM SaturdayJune 24until2

Here is what I posted to the Barre Town Front Porch Forum. This also be
visible in some of the adjacent FPF members.
I posted it as an event rather than an announcement so that it would show up on
the calendar.
"ARRL Field Day is the most popular on-the-air radio event held annually in
North America. On the fourth full weekend in June, more than 35,000 radio amateurs
gather with their clubs to operate from remote location as an exercise in emergency
communications.
"Come visit us at the Barre Recreation Complex behind the Barre Town Middle & Elementary
School at 70 Websterville Road. We'll demonstrate how we use radio to talk across the continent, teach
you about amateur "ham" radio, demonstrate radio communications through satellites in orbit,
and much more! Free admission. All are welcome."
