I have one 4:1 current balun available, and also a 1:1 balun. People commonly use a 4:1 balun at the feedpoint of an OCFD when it is between 35 and 50 feet above the ground. Operation will be better on 80 meters if we follow the 4:1 balun with a good choke to reduce the common mode current on the outside of the coax. Does anyone have a common mode choke we can borrow. I do have some 2.4 inch ferrite toroids so I can jerry rig a choke if we use small diameter coax (RG-8x) for the feedline.
Please let me know what you think we need, and what materials you have available.
