I'm running the latest ASSP version (1.9.1.8) and noticed recently that there seems to be a persistent SMTP connection (according to the EIMS connection statistics). The ASSP SMTP connections window doesn't show any active SMTP connections. The number of current connections in EIMS is always less than the peak, but never goes back to zero. When this is going on, the server CPU is getting hammered by perl (50% utilization), when nothing should be happening. Quitting EIMS causes the perl usage to temporarily go away (and resets current SMTP connections to zero), but then it comes back later with the same symptoms. Any ideas what is going on? The only SMTP hosts in the host list are my mail server IP and 127.0.0.1, both whitelisted. I've played around with the SMTP timeouts in ASSP and EIMS, but nothing seems to help. I'm kind of suspicious that the loopback address may be the culprit, since the number of connections shown in the host list is vastly less for this than for the mail server IP.
