>From CSEB National Office Job Opening ********** University of Saskatchewan Facilities Management Division SUSTAINABILITY COORDINATOR Facilities Management requires a Sustainability Coordinator to address the issues of sustainability on campus in a comprehensive and systematic way. Duties: Reporting to the Planner, Facilities Management Division, the successful candidate will assume a leadership role in building a coherent University strategy to address the way in which the University of Saskatchewan impacts environmental and social well-being locally and globally; and reviewing & evaluating the current state of sustainable development within the operation and practices of the U of S. A primary duty will be to ensure integration of ecological, economic and social considerations at all levels of strategic planning and operations within the University. The main areas of consideration are anticipated to be transportation, water & energy usage, waste management, building design, landscape and environmental health. The Sustainability Coordinator will recommend strategic approaches for policy development, implementation plans and monitoring techniques, and will take a leading role in educating administration, staff, students and faculty about sustainability issues. The successful candidate will develop and maintain contacts within the university, in the extended community and with other universities and institutions to encourage & assist in the campus-wide understanding of sustainability initiatives, and will form links with local, provincial & federal governments to gain support and feedback on sustainable development planning. The Coordinator will be responsible for identifying government programs from which the U of S can receive support as our planning proceeds, and assessing how the U of S can serve as a model for provincial sustainable development goals. Qualifications: A University degree majoring in Sustainable Development or an equivalent degree in Environmental Studies or Environmental Science along with three (3) to five (5) years of directly related experience in the creation of sustainability and environmental policies and programs. An excellent understanding of appropriate organizational and management structure for sustainable development and a high level of oral and written communication and presentation skills are required. The incumbent will be expected to lead by example in order to communicate sustainability concepts to the university community. The incumbent must be self-motivated, possess excellent organization skills and be able to work at a high level with Microsoft Office software programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience in the range of $38,992 to $52,222 per annum, Administrative Pay Grade 5. If a qualified candidate cannot be found at Administrative Pay Grade 5, the position may be filled at Administrative Pay Grade 3 ($33,888 to $45,358) and the position will be upgraded to Administrative Pay Grade 5 when the candidate meets the stated qualifications.
