This Teamsters Joint Council 16 statement is important -- and it's time to
translate declarations like this into increasingly massive workers ACTION -- to
use the muscle of powerful unions like this, in defense of immigrants, Muslims
and the rights of us all. Committees in defense of immigrants must be formed;
job actions and the "strike weapon" must be used. As for the illusions in the
"elected officials," just look at de Blasio's latest statements on expanding
the list of offenses that trigger increased cooperation with ICE, etc. The
"broken windows" policy criminalizes untold numbers of immigrants, African
American and Latino youth.The ICE jails and detention centers sheltered by de
Blasio, Cuomo et al. should be run out of NYC, now. For mass
labor/black/immigrant/student action to STOP deportations and racist attacks!
