Please find below a reply that I have received about getting a wheelchair ramp
for Fittie playpark. I'm delighted that this has finally been agreed.
I also mentioned it to a jounalist who was at the Disability Equity Partnership
meeting today, and said that the Community Council had been pushing for it for
some time, so he may be in touch or look to give this a bit coverage.

Hello Cllr Hutchison,
Following protracted discussions with ‘The Flooding Team’ please see latest
response below confirming that our Roads people will be carrying out the
redesign of the steps at the rear of No 8 South Square to allow wheelchair
access from that end along to the grassed play area.
I’m sure this will be welcome news to the residents there and will provide a
valuable service to other wheelchair visitors in the future.

Hi Jake,
I spoke to Alan Robertson and I can confirm that we can both cover the cost and
organise the undertaking of the works.
Just to confirm, am I right in understanding that all we are looking to do is
cut the steps back to allow disabled access past them to the grassed park area?
I understand that allowing disabled access up the steps to the footpath behind
the seawall in the other direction isn’t a problem at the moment.
