Calling all classic and unique vehicles! I know that there are some cool
classics in the neighborhood and some unique vehicles as well. For
instance, my neighbor built a motorized big wheel and it’s awesome. So how
about we get them all together for a neighborhood Labor Day Parade. Monday
morning, *September 7th|Labor Day* . Line up at 2605 Barkwood Drive
(between Heatherwood and Queenswood) will start at *9:45* and we’ll
disembark at *10:00* . I got a lot of great feedback for our impromptu July

*Food Truck Review*
So, like everyone else, we’re home all the time and we cook all the time.
With this heat, we’d prefer not to cook as much and that’s where food
trucks factor in. I am not normally a fan but these have been welcome
changes to our daily routine.

this. Banthai Express is in the same parking lot as where Valentina’s used
to be on Brodie and Harpers Ferry. This food is delicious and does not
break the bank. Everything I have ordered from there has been aromatic and
flavorful.
*Casita Nicole* *:* just yelp Casita Nicole. This is the closest food truck
to us at the Texaco on Monarch and Menchaca. I wish they had better hours
(10:00-3:00) but the food here is delicious. They have a breakfast taco
here that will set you back $3.00 and you’ll need another person to help
you eat it. I am working up the nerve to try their Mexican Hamburger which
includes a patty, bacon, ham, cheese, a pineapple ring and mayonnaise.

The US Census Bureau has extended its deadline to complete the 2020 Census
to September 30, 2020 so it is not too late to participate. As a reminder,
data accumulated from the Census determines lots and lots of things for the
next 10-year cycle: funding for schools, voting district boundaries,
transportation dollars for roads and buses, healthcare services, and so
much more. It takes just a few minutes to complete online!

It is an election year and we want our neighbors to participate in local,
state, and national elections. Important dates and links to more info on
getting registered and voting below.
- Monday, October 5 - Deadline to register to vote
- Tuesday, October 13 - First Day of Early Voting
- Friday, October 23 - Last Day to Apply for Ballot by Mail ( *Received,
not* Postmarked)
- Friday, October 30 - Last Day of Early Voting
- Tuesday, November 3 - ELECTION DAY (Last day to receive ballot by mail)

economic recovery. There are grant programs available to small businesses,

We have officially begun our 2020 membership drive and want to encourage
everyone to join. COVNA sends updates on issues that impact our
neighborhood and information on what you can do to make your voice heard.
Your dues support the neighborhood parties that allow you to connect with
your fellow COVNA retirees, parents, young professionals, etc. Your annual
dues of $20 go towards funding our neighborhood-wide activities like the
Spring Fling, Summer Picnic, and the Holiday Party. They also help us place
ads in local publications to promote the garage sale and help get this
newsletter delivered to your doorstep and updated at COVNA.org.
