Subject: leiderman: blame game: goh smears ngos with "petrocaribe effect"
Per attached post-earthquake compilation, note how the Haitian government,
exploiting the sudden civil panic, deftly transfers the blame for the
multi-billion dollar Petrocaribe scandal to the nonprofit organization
community, asserting that it will "exercise strict control over the
assistance of NGOs," whatever that means.
Silly me. I thought all the recent fuss, rejection of prime minister and
cabinet were about GOH mismanagement of the economy and waste of foreign
aid. Have there also been uprisings against bandage porters,
rice-and-bean cookers, toilet builders, bed-sheet changers?
In fairness, have NGOs received Petrocaribe contracts? wasted money?
over-billed invoices? used substandard materials? caused injuries and
deaths with Venezuelan petro-dollars? If so, please post here.
