Friends in case you didn't know - we have a thriving English language
library in Haiti, which the wives of the Marine Officers started in 1924.
It is the 2nd oldest (after St. Louis du Gonzague) library in Haiti.
We now find we have a surplus of English fiction/non fiction books
as we have run out of space on the shelves at our disposition. We are
only in one room, next to the Petion-Ville club, and so space is
limited.
I thought I would reach out to you all to see if you have contacts in
Haiti who would welcome English fiction and non fiction books -
the latter are usually biographies, autobiographies, books on the
economy or on NGO practices etc. A very wide selection of authors
which suits the wide taste of our members.
I'm sure many of you have contacts with Universities/schools/colleges,
English institutions (meaning teaching English) where students may be
very happy to have an English book to read, or with which to practise.
We do not want these to be sold by the recipients, but used to
improve people's English.
Do let me know as I'm the Librarian this next 2 years.
People would need to come and collect them - we don't have the funds
to send them to anyone.
Likewise guesthouses and small hotels out in the country might like to
have them to offer their guests for a quiet read in their accommodations.
