Need a crap shoot HDD ? http://www.geeks.com/products_sc.asp?cat=423 Note: I bought tools for many years from an old boy in the Tools Dept. at Sears. He finally retired after about 99 years with Sears and he knew more about tools than anyone I've ever known. I stopped in to get an industrial sander and Murph showed me what I was looking for. He then suggested I buy a refurbed model of the item for 50% of the new item price. I hesitated but Murph said he always bought a refurb edition if it was avilable. Being a SA I asked how many times his half priced tool died on the way home. He had never lost a refurbed item and he explained that the new item came off an assembly line with workers knocking down 30 or 40 cents per hour while the used item had been refurbed by a local contractor who had to guarantee his chraftsmanship. If many problems occurred with the same contractor his contact was cancelled, hence, few failures with refurbed items. I bought the refurbed sander, worked the hell out of it, replaced the bearings (ball bearings), worked hell out of it for more years, but alas, after only about 35 years it came apart, and I mean came apart ! There were pieces all over the shop. You just can't get good tools anymore ! Murph had a point and I still buy refurb !
