I'm known to be a little extreme from time-to-time. <grin> I have the tendency not to quit something unless I can fix it (or break it in this case) but this time I pushed it a little to far by getting into areas (registry) that I knew nothing about. I guess it's really for the best. I've heard all the bad reports about ME and figured it was time to just move on. I will try the scanner suggestion that you offered. I did have the scanner plugged in and hooked up when I downloaded the software. There is hope. I've tried everything. Installed and uninstalled the program that came with the scanner etc. Could that be a hardware problem? Glad to hear that you found what was causing the pause problem. Some might consider the solution a little extreme?? From what I have seen replacing Win ME with "anything" is a good move. The scanner....... if I remember correctly you will have to start from scratch.... disconnect the scanner from the computer, remove the drivers, clean the registry(?). The install..... again from memory, I think you have to install the software first, then connect the scanner to the computer, then plug the scanner into power.
