Beyond the economic changed these migrations caused -decreasing the demographic pressure in an European continent impoverished by wars, massive rural exodus, and accelerated industrialization process - the human displacement to the Americas reinforced the mythological image of the "new continent" as a space ready for being appropriated by the agency of a European migratory subject. From 1964 onwards this reality of the migration as a social narrative about an imagined subject (prototypically "white, European, male and conqueror") starts to change. For the first time in the history of the capitalism, Europe is no longer the continent from which the great travels departure: it became the space that receives the migrants from the "other spaces", once perceived as "the objects" of the European colonialism. New migratory models -travels from the global south to the global north, and also from south to south - became massive between the 20th and 21st centuries, being starred predominantly by women. These new migrations constitute a multidimensional phenomenon that transforms the origin and host societies economically, politically and spatially. As part of the junctions and disjunctions of the market globalization, these migrations constitutes mechanisms of labor force appropriation, in which systems of surplus value and labor exploitation are also globalized. Nevertheless, this "economic" aspect of the phenomenon is not dissociated of complex processes that transnationalize the spaces at symbolic and cultural levels. In this sense, these new human displacements promote, simultaneously, changes in the narratives about the local spaces, altering the way the migrants build, enunciate, remember and shape the social imaginaries about their own societies. These processes of active re-invention are closely followed by the negotiation of immigrant's identities in host societies. The presence of Latin-Americans in global North's countries is changing the narratives about local places in Latin America in a conflictive, asymmetric and unequal dialogue between migrant's and autochthones' imaginaries. In a similar way, the presence of a new European and North American migration in Latina America - increased specially after 2008 as a consequence of the economic global crisis - or the presence Asiatic migrants in countries such as Chile - whose economy depends deeply of the commerce with China, what is also becoming the Brazilian and Peruvian reality - also constitutes the scenario where discourses and imaginaries about "the Latinos", about "their society", and about "their way of life" are contrasted. These encounters between asymmetric narratives result in processes of active renegotiation of the memory, the identity, and the discourses over the Latin America history. The aim of this panel in to question/debate in which levels and how the migrations that departure from Latin American countries, and the ones that have Latin America as their destiny transform the memories, the narratives, and the imaginaries, globalizing diverse and divergent notions about the ethnic/racial/social/economic otherness of Latin American people and history. 4) Key-words: Migration, Imaginary, Latin America, Transnationalims, Memory.
