| GFRD 2015 UPDATE IFAD, the World Bank and the EC, are pleased to
communicate the provisional agenda of the GLOBAL FORUM ON REMITTANCES AND
DEVELOPMENT 2015. Click here to download the latest version.
Programme highlights
International Day of Family Remittances On 16 February 2015, all 176 member
states of IFAD Governing Council unanimously proclaimed 16 June to be the
International Day of Family Remittances. From 2015 onward, the International
Day of Family Remittances will be celebrated on 16 June in recognition of the
fundamental contribution made by migrant workers to the wellbeing of their
families and communities back home, and to the sustainable development of their
countries of origin.
The morning session of the first day of theGLOBAL FORUM ON REMITTANCES AND
DEVELOPMENT 2015 will celebrate theInternational Day of Family Remittances,
under the patronage of H.M. Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, in Her capacity as
the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance
for Development.
On that occasion, Heads of State and high-level representatives from
governments, international organizations, the private sector and civil society
will join IFAD in the celebration. The afternoon session will highlight global
public policies in the context of remittances and development and support
discussions towards promoting a better enabling environment. |

| Registration
In order to join the GFRD 2015 you should be registered to the event.
Registration is free of charge and open until 15 May 2015. Once you have
received confirmation of your registration, make sure to secure
youraccommodation as soon as possible, and that arrangements for visa are made
in advance.
Kindly note that due to EXPO Milano 2015 and the resulting high demand for
hotel accommodations, rooms availability is limited and strict cancellation
policies are applied. For this reason, we kindly ask you to secure your
accommodation well in advance.
The GFRD is a limited capacity event, and only 400 participants will be
allowed. As of April 10, 75 % of capacity has been reached.
