The Internet reaches millions of people all over the world, a huge market
for people who want to make money, spread rumors, and simply be mischievous.
Here are three examples.
1. Chain Letter - with a few keystrokes anyone can send out emails to friends
and strangers claiming how much money they can make by not breaking the chain.
Most letters are attached with testimonials on how each one needs the money.
2. A boy with a brain tumor wanted to get into the Guiness Book of World
Records for receiving get-well cards. He received cards ten years after his
operation.
3. Hoaxes on famous people or events like Bill Gates buying the Catholic Church
or false reports on September 11th.
