The internet is a very public place. Many people, however, want to keep information about themselves as private as possible. Aside from not using the internet altogether, there is no way to keep everything private. There are many ways to protect your privacy, all it takes is some time and effort to get to the security level you are comfortable with. One item that can be adjusted is your browsers use of “cookies”. Cookies are small files that are written to your hard drive to keep track of web pages you have visited. The settings can be changed, in all web browsers, to match the privacy level desired by the user. Information of changing your web browser cookie settings can be found at http://privacy.getnetwise.org/browsing/tools/. All of the most popular browsers are listed there.
