Published: Jun 16, 2004 - 07:18:27 pm EDT Fire kills older man in trailer TAYLORS ISLAND - A team of Deputy State Fire Marshals is continuing their investigation to determine the origin and cause of a travel trailer fire, which killed an elderly man on Taylors Island early Wednesday morning. The 6:01 a.m. blaze caused an estimated $20,000 damage to the approximately ten (10) foot X thirty (30) foot home. An elderly female resident sustained serious injuries in the blaze and was transported by Maryland State Police Aviation to the Baltimore Regional 8urn Center at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for treatment. Her condition at this time is unknown. Thirty (30) firefighters from Taylors Island, Church Creek, and Madison, and an EMS crew from Rescue Fire Co were able to bring the fire under control in fifteen (15) minutes. There were no firefighter injuries reported. The Office of the State Fire Marshal is being assisted by the Maryland State Police in the investigation. The identification of both the deceased man and the injured woman are being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The exact cause of death will be established by an examination performed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore.
