One of the tricks I use when playing around with the pics is to zoom
out to a small size, adjust the picture to how I think it should be,
then hit the Adjust (F6), which fits it neatly into the picture area,
do a quick & dirty render (20,000,000 iterations), and if happy with
the result, then change the iterations to what I want the final render
done at. This is no good if trying to do a deep zoom though.
