Nature Story Hour: September 6
First Wednesday of each month at 1:00 pm.
Preschoolers can discover nature through stories about the natural world. 
Grown-ups are invited to stay.   Donations welcome.

Bring Friends & Flashlights for some night time fun on the trails.

GHA Pancake Breakfast
Sunday, September 10 from 9am -1pm
The Glen Helen Association will be serving a pancake breakfast, including
fruit and sausage, at the Outdoor Education Center Lodge.  There will be
live music, items from the Nature Shop and plenty of opportunities to chat
with neighbors and friends of the Glen. St.Rt.343 OEC entrance

Natural Journaling Hike
Saturday, September 10 at 2:00 pm.
Bring a journal to record observations, drawings and other ?seeing?
exercises as we hike the trails. No experience necessary.

Edible Plants & Mushrooms
Sunday, September 10 at  6:00 pm
Join edible plant expert, Dave Jansen, as he shows us late summer plants
that are good for eatin? and medicinal uses.

Fall Migration Bird Walk
Sunday, September 17 from 8-11 am
Come look and listen for migrants stopping at the Glen during their head
southward.

Glen Helen Lecture Series
Exploring the Tropical Splendor of Costa Rica and Panama
Tom Hissong, Education Coordinator at the Aullwood Audubon Center and
Farm, led an exciting National Audubon Society natural history trip aboard
the Yorktown Clipper to Costa Rica and Panama.  He will share with us the
beauty and rich natural diversity of the tropical world in these two
exciting countries, including Curu Wildlife Refuge, home to 234 species of
plants, 115 species of birds and 78 species of mammals, and the Sambu
River through the Darien Jungle to visit the stilted village of the Choco
Indians.
