I had that problem once flying to Geneva.

What airport are you flying to, I'd be prepared to give it a go.

No you should not have to turn it on manually. I have had this happen too
with other aircraft, and if this happens more than twice, I forget it. I
tell Michelle to do a visual approach. If everything is truely set
correctly, an ILS approach should work just fine, but like I said above,
I've had the same issues. Maybe your plane was still going to fast, but
just throwing that idea out there.

Subject: [bvipilots] Landing Boing 747

Hi all,
Well, I have had problems landing the Boing 747 using ILS and i think I am
doing everything right.
I have in IYP checked autolanding as well as blind pilots mode.
When I am getting closer to the airport and ATC gives me the frequency I say
to Michelle for example load the ILS frequency for runway 26 Then, I follow
all turns provided by ATC and the GPS is set to navigation.
But the localizer is not detected and I keep circleing around the airport.
I do the landing and approach checklist when I am about 22 miles from the
airport.
Do you turn the ILS mode on manually?
One shouldn't have to do that from what I understand.
Many thanks for any tip,
Christian
