Bristol Area Birders: Those of you in the five state region surrounding Bristol can tune WCYB-TV5 tonight for the 11 p.m. news to see promoted coverage of the Ivory-billed Woodpecker developments of today. Rick Knight, one of our area birders from Johnson City, TN, will be interviewed as part of that report. Rick was part of a heralded 6-member team chosen by the LSU Museum of Natural History researchers to search for the species in 2002. Starting on Jan. 17 of that year, Rick and others (including a sound team from Cornell University) searched 30 good weather days in the Pearl River of Louisiana. The project was funded by Zeiss and received much national and international publicity. Be sure and watch tonight...... Let's go birding......
