[Bristol-Birds] Roan Mtn notes

Carver's Gap on Roan Mtn
Carter Co., TN  &  Mitchell Co, NC


some recent sightings & captures at my banding station:

Com. Nighthawk:  1 each, last 2 days  (unusual at high elevation)
Veery:  2-4 daily
Swainson's Thrush:  1 banded today
Hermit Thrush:  1 juv. banded today  (evidence of local nesting)
Tennessee Warbler:  8-15 daily
Chestnut-sided Warbler: 1-2 daily
Magnolia Warbler:  1 today
Cape May Warbler:  1-5 daily

Black-thr. Blue Warbler:  very numerous; over the last 9 autumn banding seasons
I have had an average capture rate of 95 per season (range 64-135), but this 
month
in just 8 days have banded 102.

Black-thr. Green Warbler:  2-6 daily
Worm-eating Warbler:  1 on 27th
Ovenbird:  1-2 daily
Kentucky Warbler:  1 banded on 24th
Hooded Warbler:  3 on 27th
Canada Warbler:  1 each, banded on 24th & 25th
Red Crossbill:  3 on 25th
Pine Siskin:  1 on 27th
