This morning, while biking on the VA Creeper Trail, Joan and I saw two Osprey soaring over the old Alvarado Train Station, mile marker 8.5. (Across from the South Holston River, less than a mile upstream from the head of the South Holston Lake). Beautiful sight against the clear morning sky. Stirred up my hawk watching fever. They eventually flew on up the river.
Hope to see some of you at the Mendota Fire Tower in September. Sign up now as a volunteer; and start loosening up your neck muscles so they will be ready for hours of looking up, holding those binoculars!
