Bristol Area Birders: Ruby Ruth Carr, age 82, the mother of Virgil Carr, died Friday, Sept. 16, in Sycamore Shoals Hospital in Elizabethton, TN following an extended illness. She was a resident of Hampton, TN. Many birders know Virgill from his constant friendship and kindness to birders who vist Musick's Campground at South Holston Lake. Virgill and his wife, Carol, live just next to the sign-in box at Musick's Campground. We extended our deepest sympathy to the family. Since the late 1960's, Mrs. Carr, who was 82 years old, was a close friend of our fellow birders, Howard and Mable Langridge. The funeral was conducted today, Sunday, Sept. 18. The graveside service and interment will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, in Mountain Home National Cemetery, Johnson City. A native of Heaton, NC, Mrs. Carr was a daughter of the late Conley R. and Lola McQuire Parlier. Mrs. Carr was a member of the Church of God, Kingsport and had worked in health care. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arline Carr and one son, Terry L. Carr, 1996. Survivors are five sons and four daughters-in-law, Arline Carr, Jr. and wife Barbara, Macon, GA, Virgil Carr and wife Carol, Bristol, TN, Conley Carr, Daniel Carr and wife Pamala, all of Johnson City, Mark Carr and wife LeeAnn, Hampton, one daughter, Lola C. Parham, Kingsport, thirteen grandchildren, two brothers, five sisters and one daughter-in-law, Pauline Carr. The funeral service was in the Tetrick Funeral Home Riverside Chapel with Rev.
