Jennifer Meade went to the Kyles Ford Bald Eagle nest in Hancock Co. TN on the Clinch River, Sunday morning and Thursday afternoon. Both trips only confirmed one eaglet. Additionally, she spoke with a man who works at The River Place at Kyles Ford. He told Jennifer he has only been seeing one eaglet this year. She remembered from her last photo trip, 30 March, from the cliff looking down into nest, there were two chicks -- one much larger than the other at that time. The attached photo is from the Horton's Ford Road with a 200 mm lens. The adult is sitting in very bright afternoon sun on a limb adjacent to the nest Additionally, she visited the Great Blue Heron rookery in Dungannon, VA last Wednesday afternoon. It was very noisy and much adult activity over, in and around the nests. Attached is one photo of a nest. No visible chicks but Jennifer plans to make another visit in the near future. Also, she discovered one additional nest in a pine some distance from the others-23 total so far. Wednesday evening she was kayaking at Bays Mountain Park at Kingsport and saw an adult Bald Eagle soaring - "not exactly over the lake but close." Fred Hilton, employee there, told her that just over the ridge was the nest at Holston Army Ammunition Plant. It is visible with a spotting scope from the fire tower, he said.
