This morning I sighted either a male Ruffed Grouse or male Northern Bobwhite near East High School. He was crossing the Weaver Pike (on foot) in front of my car and then flew up on the bank. It was between where Silver Grove Road intersects Weaver Pike and East High School. I did not get a good enough look to identify for sure -- I was so surprised to see him. My first impression was Northern Bobwhite but after getting home and consulting bird book, I am not sure which I saw. I thought the legs were more like the Bobwhite. Other birders in the area might keep a lookout for him.
