Subject: [TN-Bird] east TN ramblings

I spent a couple days in east TN this week. Just a few highlights:

Thursday, June 17 (with Rob Biller)
Hampton Creek Cove SNA
Golden-winged Warbler - at least 8 singing males
Alder Flycatcher - 2
Willow Flycatcher - 2 (pair, probably)
Least Flycatcher - 1
Acadian Flycatcher - 2
Common Raven - 1

Hummingbird Hill on way to Round Bald on Roan Mtn
Pine Siskin - 2 pairs of adults at the feeders and flying around the houses

Carver's Gap at Round Bald
Vesper Sparrows - 2 males singing (pics in link)

Patton-Simmons Cemetary near Johnson City
Chuck-wills-widow - 2

Friday, June 18
Sycamore Shoals Historic Park in Elizabethton
Yellow-crowned Night Heron - at least 11 immature birds and one adult in the
nest tree over the trail

Western Washington Co area along Charlie Carson Rd
Bobolink - 1 pair (pics below). Amazing they are at this location considering
there is nothing but corn, plowed fields, and grassy fields that have been
bailed up already once this year. Very short grass fields where the pair was
seen. It took an hour to finally see a bobolink. Very infrequent singing
(twice in an hour) until one male came out and sat on the barbed wire fence and
sang with his lady nearby.

For those interested, I've included a few photos here:
