We couldn't have picked a finer day to have the Bristol Bird Club's Burke's Garden field trip. It was short sleeve weather, birds were singing and spirits were high. Fourteen participants turned out for the event. We saw 3 Rough-legged Hawks, (2 light morphs and 1 dark morph). Everyone had good looks. We didn't see any Golden Eagles. Wallace Coffey suggests that is due to the reduced number of sheep in the valley. Other interesting birds for the day included Green-winged Teals Cooper's Hawk American Kestrel Common Snipes Horned Larks Common Ravens American Pipits Savannah Sparrow Participants were Wallace Coffey Larry McDaniel Don Holt Bob Quillen Ron Harrington Mike Hagy Rack Cross Carol Cross Sammy Cross Bill Grigsby Dave Worley Diane Worley Ron Lapp Rose Lapp Larry McDaniel Johnson City, TN ************************************************* BRISTOL BIRDS NET LIST This is a regional birding list sponsored by the Bristol Bird Club to facilitate communications between birders and bird clubs of Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee.
